Abstract

This paper, based on colonial and modern ethnographic writings, outlines the fundamental aspects of the guarani religion. In the first place I present the most outstanding characters of the Guarani pantheon, and the narratives that found the activity of those personages. Secondly I analyze the concept-existence «word», emphasizing its core value to understand the cosmology, the relation of the humans with other natural beings and with deities, the problem of evil and its overcoming between the Guarani.
