Abstract

The diagnosis of bone and soft tissue lesions by fine‐needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy can be challenging because of overlapping cytomorphologic features, difficulties in interpretation, and sampling issues. The results of this retrospective review of a large series of bone and soft tissue FNAs show that the diagnosis of both benign and malignant lesions can be made accurately in many scenarios and also illustrates some of the pitfalls and limitations in the interpretation of these challenging cytology cases.
