Abstract

Popular music, like popular culture, is considered to reflect the tastes of ordinary people or the masses, produced for and through the modern mass media. One of the characteristics that distinguish between local-traditional music with popular music is its transmission. This paper is intended as a preliminary attempt to show the transmission between the two musics, which is then expected to trigger ideas about the possibilities of musical transmission in relation to the development of recent information and communication technology, the existence of popular music whose transmissions depend on this technology, as well as the benefits of information technology to the transmission of local-traditional music. The development of information and communication technology today has provided an alternative to the transmission of music, both local-traditional and popular, which may even be very effective and efficient.
