Abstract

The interaction of energetic ions with the materials lead to several processes in the system depending upon the energy, ion fluence, and the physical properties of the materials themselves. These processes behave differently depending upon the energy regimes: (i.e. high energy regime (in MeV range) and low energy regime (in keV range)). This chapter describes briefly various effects in these energy regimes, models, and the defects created/induced based on these effects.
