Abstract
This research aims (1) to find out how cocoa toke-toke know about trade zakat (2) to find out whether cocoa toke-toke already have the awareness to pay trade zakat (3) to find out what the relationship is between cocoa toke-toke awareness in paying zakat trading with maqashid sharia. This study uses a qualitative method. The location of this research is Bandar Sawah Village, Kec. Bandar, Kab. Simalungun. The subjects of this research were 6 cocoa toke-toke people. Data collection techniques in this research are observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques in this research are data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this research indicate that there is still minimal understanding and knowledge possessed by cocoa shops regarding trade zakat. There is still low awareness of cocoa toke-toke to pay trade zakat, even though the results of its trade have reached the trade zakat nisab, which is 85 grams of gold. The low understanding and knowledge of trade zakat has an impact on the low awareness of cocoa shops to pay their trade zakat. As a result, the aim of the maqashid sharia zakat itself was not realized, namely realizing social justice in an effort to alleviate poverty in Bandar Sawah Village.
