Abstract
Background: Rapid brain growth in infants and toddlers is known as the golden age. The golden age must get a thorough stimulation in the aspects of health, nutrition, care, and education. Early detection of developmental deviations needs to be conducted to be able to detect early deviations. The Aim : This study aims to find out the correlation between maternal characteristics and the golden age development of toddlers aged 12-60 months. Method: This study was analytic survey research using a cross-sectional approach. The population was representatives of mothers who had toddlers from each village in Saptosari, Gunungkidul, DIY in 2019 which the total of samples was 30 mothers. The sampling technique used is total sampling. The data were collected using Mother and Child Health Book (ind.Buku Kesehatan Ibu dan Anak (KIA)) and the Pre-Screening Development Questionnaire (ind.Kuesioner Pra- Skrining Perkembangan (KPSP)). Furthermore, data were analyzed using the Kendalls Tau correlation. Result: The majority of mothers were between 21 and 35 years old, namely 20 people (66.7%). The majority of them graduated from primary education level, namely 20 people (66.7%). The majority of their occupations were housewives, namely 26 people (33.3%). The result of the Kendalls Tau correlation test indicated that the value for maternal age and toddlers nutritional status was 0.511> 0.05, mothers educational level and toddlers nutritional status was 0.309> 0.05, and mothers occupation and toddlers nutritional status was 0.572> 0.05. Furthermore, it also showed that the value for maternal age and the data from the Pre-Screening Development Questionnaire was 0.415 > 0.05 and mothers occupation and the data from the Pre-Screening Development Questionnaire was 0.182 > 0.05. Conclusion: There is no correlation between maternal characteristics andthe golden age development of toddlers aged 12-60 months.
