Diversidade funcional de peixes de riacho: Como as assembleias podem estar organizadas?

Abstract

The interest in functional diversity grew and gained more space and importance in ecological studies. The local habitat characteristics, environmental factors and resource availability are factors that influence the functional organization of a community. The functional groups of fish communities are related to the resources available in the environment and can be always changing, since streams are unstable environments and subject to constant physical variations. Studies about functional diversity of fish stream assemblage represent only 33% of the studies and have recently been initiated in tropical regions. Through this review, we highlight the importance of application of functional diversity indices to characterize the functional organization of an assemblage.
