Abstract

Ferrite thin films with high coercivity and excellent perpendicular anisotropy were fabricated by the ferrite-plating method. The perpendicular coercivity (Hc⊥) of the films increased with the increasing ion concentration ratio of Co2+ to Fe2+ in the reaction solution CCo/CFe. The saturation magnetization (Ms) was 500-550 emu/cc for the films of which CCo/CFe was 0.5 and lower. The composition of the film with the highest Hc⊥ was Co0.43Fe2.57O4. These results indicate that the films are composed of Co ferrite and magnetite grains.
