Abstract

The paper aims to analyze how the changes in the curriculum have interfered in the teaching of history of the Negro in the state of Pará. It also seeks to investigate the process of decolonization of curriculum in school, which, among other allies, has the textbook. The curriculum, the teaching of history and the didactic book are fundamental elements for the elaboration of a historical memory. In Pará, the discipline responsible for the narrative of the history of the Negro is Estudios Amazônicos, a regional discipline, destined to the students of the elementary school, from the sixth to the ninth year. The most used textbook in the discipline is History of Pará, by Benedicto Monteiro. It is observed how the mentioned book presents / displays the historiographic knowledge on the African or Afrodescendant in the Region, considering, as well, how is operationalized the gender category in this didactic production. The gaze on gender follows the perspective of bell hooks (2014), in which the quest for racial equality is articulated to the struggle for the liberation of women from a sexist social order.
