Abstract

The method and results of solubility experiments from both supersaturated and undersaturated starting solutions are reported. The data indicate that carbonate fluorapatite is the thermodynamically stable apatite phase in high carbonate solutions such as sea-water and the loss of the carbonate from the lattice should occur only when the solid is exposed to low carbonate solutions.-M.S.
