Abstract
The characteristics of the Amazon region depend, to large extent, on the extraordinary availability and flow of water. Even so, economic development pressures have seriously impacted compromised regional water resources due to agriculture expansion, dam construction and environmental commodification. Improvements in water management are directly related to new basis of economic production, technological standards and redistribution of social opportunities.
