Parasite infiltrates fruitfly research

Abstract

Wolbachia is the parasite that infects the Drosophila melanogaster through itseggs and thus reduces sperm and egg production. Researchers also discovered that a bacteria also infects the Drosophilia which should kill it but the presence of the parasite enables it to survive.
