Abstract

The paper studies the features of bimetal formation from stainless steel 12Cr18Ni10Ti and aluminum alloy 5056 by lap friction welding. In particular, the influence of welding technological parameters on the bimetal quality is analyzed. The quality criterion is the interface development. Length of the hook, its area, depth of tool plunge into the bottom sheet and weld width are chosen as the criteria of interface development. Heat generation and strain during welding were also analyzed. It is shown that the quality of bimetals is strongly influenced by the adhesion conditions of the working tool to the bimetal material.
