Abstract

PARENTS' NAMES: Michelle Havard HOMETOWN: Indianapolis, Indiana CAREER OBJECTIVE: I want to work to create a new material or repurpose currently used materials to make a more sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to plastics and fossil fuels. BIOGRAPHY: I am a creator, a researcher, a leader, an advocate, an artist, a motivator, a sister, a friend, and an African-American woman who fell in love with Materials Science and Engineering. Since a young girl I have always been fascinated with how things work and why they work the way they do. When I began to pursue the degree of Materials Science and Engineering all my questions were answered and I was given a space to explore and challenge concepts and ideas. I am a big advocate for making our Earth a more clean and healthy place. I am equally passionate about both materials research and decreasing the amount of pollution humans contribute on a daily basis.
