Abstract
We report a patient who developed periorbital dermatitis and conjunctivitis, whenever he used a topical ophthalmic medication. Because of contact dermatitis was suspected, we conducted patch test. Patch testing showed allergic contact sensitization to phenylephrine hydrochloride. There was no photosensitivity. Cross-sensitivity was not demonstrated. Of interest in our case, epinephine, atropine sulfate and cyclopentolate HC1 safely wers used instead of phenylephrine hydrochloride. © 1982, Meeting of Osaka Dermatological Association.
