Abstract
Two cases of exfoliative cheilitis caused by psychogenic background were reported. Case 1: A 17-year-old male high school student had erosion, scale-crust and diffuse swelling on his lip for three years. Clinico-psychological findings revealed that he had encountered obstacles in establishing his characteristic identity during adolescence. It seemed anxiety, despair and displeasure were the obstacles that droven him to touch and peel his vermilion unconsciously. Case 2: A 17-year-old female high school student had suffuring from diffuse swelling and scale crust on her lip for two years. She was diagnosed as having dysmorphophobia by psychiatric examinations. Both patients received psycho-psychiatric treatment, and their intractable cheilitis has been doing well following the improvement of there mental condition. © 1993, Meeting of Osaka Dermatological Association.
