Abstract

Temperature, wind, water, compacted soil and reduced sunlight are environmental stresses that are commonly magnified when landscape plants are grown in urban situations, as contrasted to rural or suburban areas. With careful selection, landscape plants which are tolerant to adverse conditions can and should be considered for use in urban landscape environments.
