Abstract

Representations about childhood, education, and nudity produced by the naturist movement in Brazil during the 1950s were analyzed. Magazines published by the movement in Brazil were employed. Analyzed in the light of the concept of representation formulated by Chartier, it was verified the importance of the infantile body for the naturist movement in his proposal to educate through a return to nature. For this, child nudity stood out as a regular concern of nudists with sex education for the construction of Brazilian society in the 1950s.
