Abstract
In this article, the author examines the policies of Brazil in achieving its ultimate goal of equitable and sustainable health care. The author notes the country's health system and health reforms which include social determinants such as education, poverty reduction, and preventive measures in the broader context of health as a human right. Also discussed are the challenges faced by the country's public and private health provision needs such as increased rates of obesity and caesarean.
