Abstract

This bibliometric analysis explores the intersection of vocabulary and technology, reflecting a growing academic focus on leveraging technological advancements for language acquisition. The study addresses the need for a comprehensive overview of research trends in this field, as technology integration into vocabulary instruction has rapidly evolved yet remains underexplored in systematic analyses. Using data from the Scopus database, the analysis employed Scopus Analyzer and VOS viewer software to identify patterns, trends, and key contributors. 1331 documents were analyzed, spanning various publication types, countries, and disciplines. The findings highlight ‘‘Vocabulary’’ and ‘‘Technology’’ as dominant keywords, with significant link strengths indicating a strong focus on vocabulary acquisition through digital tools. Emerging themes include using artificial intelligence, mobile-assisted language learning, and gamification, showcasing innovative methods for enhancing vocabulary instruction. The United States leads global research contributions, followed by notable outputs from China, Taiwan, and European countries, emphasizing a diverse international interest in the topic. The study further reveals an increasing emphasis on early childhood education, comprehension, and assessment, reflecting a shift toward personalized and outcome-focused learning strategies. This analysis underscores the potential of technology to revolutionize vocabulary acquisition across educational contexts and provides valuable insights for researchers and educators seeking to integrate innovative practices into language learning. Future studies should explore emerging technologies and their implications for vocabulary pedagogy, ensuring continued progress in this rapidly evolving fields.
