Abstract

Although traumatic brain injury (TBI) usually has definite causality factors, patients with complex primary injuries would have their own susceptibility factors, have interwoven pathophysiological changes, and induce variety of biological information and biomarkers; and these biological information and biomarkers can be used in clinical diagnosis and treatment. Cranial CT/MRI based macroscopic images already cannot satisfy the needs of clinical treatment. A multimodal monitoring system, by combining the clinical history, neuroimaging and functional imaging, and especially various fluid biomarkers, is expected to provide more information that helps us to have a deeper understanding of the pathophysiological process of TBI in the whole process of diagnosis and treatment, so as to reduce the mortality rate of TBI, promote the repair of nerve circuit damage, and improve the prognosis of TBI patients.
