Abstract

The essential oil of Micromeria fruticulosa (Lamiaceae) growing wild in Croatia was obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Sixtyfour compounds, representing 90.1% of the oil, were identified. The major components were oxygenated monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes with pinocarvone (17.6%), borneol (11.2%), á-bisabolol (10.5%), caryophyllene oxide (4.6%) and linalool (4.5%) as the most abundant. The essential oil showed antiviral activity against CMVsat infection.
