Abstract

This work aims to approach the characteristics of corrosion resistance of duplex (DSS) and superduplex (SDSS) stainless steels considering that are alloys that combine high mechanical strength with high values of corrosion resistance. For this reason, was performed a brief review of the behavior of these steels in several corrosive media, including possible effects of generalized and localized corrosion under diverse conditions of heat treatment in order to distinguish the limits of applicability of this class of materials that has been widely used in enterprises in petroleum and petrochemical industries.
