Abstract

Elder abuse in India includes verbal (70%), physical (13%), and financial abuse, primarily perpetrated by family members, especially daughters-in-law (45.9%). Abandonment often stems from perceived burdensomeness, leading many elderly to seek refuge in old age homes. Study in Davangere district, Karnataka, India on elder abuse in old age homes. Majority faced verbal abuse, daughter-in-law primary perpetrator.
