Abstract

Surgical treatment appears to be the therapy of choice in hypertrophic, obstructive cardiomyopathy, at least in patients who are in the advanced stage of the disease and refractory to medical treatment. In addition, strong evidence has been obtained that surgical treatment improved the prognosis at least in patients who required only a myectomy via a transaortic approach. © The Fellowship of Postgraduate Medicine, 1986.
