Abstract
Cu/turn/ studies is a st11dy of wlturc, the paradigm of'whic/z is quite different from that of the conventional (i.e. modern) studies. if we accept this view, it mealls that the whole problem of rnltural reality, epistemology, and methodology caruwt be used to llllderstand and investigate cultural studies and multiculturalis111. The infeasibility of using co11ventio11al study of culture to apprehend cult11ral studies and uwlticultumlism is related with the principle of inconzmensurability behveen those two fields, so there are differen t ,uorldviezus mid rules (langllnge games) between the two. This difference is vividly showed in clinracter and model of st1Ldy that conceives culture as /10111oge11eity, single iden tity, patterned values, fragmented. C11It11ml studies and multiculturnlislll conceive rnlture as plurality, co111plexitI J, constructed idcnt:it:y, dyna mies, divcrsi ty, illfcrnction, and somethillg porous. In light of this worldview, cult11ml studies, multi cul turn/ism, and globalism, according to 111y analysis, 111 ust be understood nnd studied fro ,u post111odem perspective or paradigm.
