Abstract

In the context of literature reports, here is a summary of the different strategies that were used for the formation of α,β-unsaturated carbonyl functionality and their biological properties. However, as per previous work on chalcone, it was noted that such active functionality was utilized as a building block material for synthesis into new molecules using click chemistry. On the pretext of presenting literature reports, sessions 2016–2024 were elaborated with an easy way of describing the role of synthesized bioactive chalcone moiety related to utilization into derivatization and their biological effects. For the synthesis, it was noted that different concentrations of electrolyte as a sole catalyst in the derivatization of chalcone were used under the Claisen–Schmidt reaction. Moreover, it was further used as an initiative ligand for compilation into the targeted compounds using a nucleophilic elimination reaction. On the contrary, various chalcones were used in their metal complexation for enhancing the biological effects.
