Abstract

The topics discussed include: state-specific effects of sevoflurane anesthesia on sleep homeostasis; baseline differences in nociception: genetic regulation; acute to chronic pain transitions after peripheral nerve injury: genomic insights; age does not influence expression of housekeeping genes for quantitative PCR after experimental brain trauma; influence of anesthetic regimen for euthanasia on cerebral mRNA expression in mice; subarachnoid hemorrhage-associated microvascular dysfunction and neuropathology: possible link to the S100B/RAGE (receptor for advanced glycation end products) pathway; assessment of the efficacy of clevidipine as compared with SNP and labetalol using the profilin1 hypertensive mouse model; perioperative plasma osmolality in neurosurgical patients; and potassium sparing diuretics reduce cardiac arrhythmias in patients receiving mannitol therapy.
