Restorative Care Nursing for Older Adults provides a detailed overview of restorative care, including staff education and motivation, evaluating older adults for inclusion in restorative care programs, restorative care activities, motivating older adults to participate, and documentation and reimbursement. An accompanying appendix outlines the need for, and value of, an interdisciplinary team approach to restorative care. Another great feature is the inclusion of week-by-week Microsoft PowerPoint presentations to help train staff. The focus of this well-written, well-designed book is preventing and reversing functional decline in such activities as bathing, dressing, transferring, continence, ambulation, and stair climbing. It contains more than 84 supporting charts and graphs to help achieve that goal. This book provides readers with a huge amount of very practical, down-to-earth information on restorative care, overcoming older adult and caregiver barriers, and implementing & successful program within a six-week period. I found the detailed tables on aerobic, strengthening, and flexibility exercises for those who are ambulatory or chairor bed-bound particularly helpful.
