A influência socioeconômica e de gênero no lazer de adolescentes

Abstract

This study investigated socioeconomic and gender influences upon adolescents' leisure. Seventy four adolescents from a public and a private school located in a city in the interior of São Paulo State participated in this research. The results demonstrated that there are no significant differences when leisure activities are analyzed in relation to socioeconomic status. However, when analyzed in relation to gender, leisure activities of girls from different socioeconomic classes present significant differences. It was concluded that different social and occupational roles attributed to adolescents, along with their socioeconomic and gender context have only a slight influence upon choices of leisure activities.
