Abstract

Sixty specialists have contributed to this synthesis of the Jurassic geology and palaeontology of the circum-Pacific area published as part of the International Geological Correlation Programme, Project 171. The 27 contributions are organized into six sections: time scales; circum-Pacific base map; regional geology and stratigraphy; biochronology; biogeography; and climatology and oceanography. Regional biozones are based on palynomorphs, protistans, plants and invertebrates. Numerous tables are used to illustrate intra- and intercontinental circum-Pacific correlations, and a large appendix contains 133 plates illustrating over 1000 index and guide fossils. A general index and fossil index are included. -G.E.Hodgson
