Abstract

As result of the geobotanic studies that have been coming to be developed in the ambit of the psammophilous grasslands dominated by Corynephorus canescens (L.) P. Beauv. var. maritimus Godr., three new associations and a subassociation are proposed, two typical communities of coast dunes in the domain of the vegetation series Osyrio quadripartitae-Junipero turbinatae sigmetum: Hemiario maritimae-Corynephoretum maritimi ass. nova (Gaditanan-Algarvian and Ribatagan-Sadensean sectors) and Hemiario robustae-Corynephoretum maritimi ass. nova (Dividing Portuguese sector), and one of interior dunes and continental sands integrated in the series Oleo sylvestris-Querco suberis sigmetum and Daphno gnidii-Junipero navicularis sigmetum: Hemiario unamunoanae-Corynephoretum maritimi ass. nova (Ribatagan-Sadensean sector). Integrated in this last community, a subassociation was segregated for the Sadensean territories: malcolmietosum gracilimae subass. nova. © 2006, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
