Abstract
Fifteen papers, some previously published, resulting from a conference organized by the IGU Commission on Mathematical Models and held in Lisbon in August 1991, examine the interface of geographic information systems and spatial modeling, considering the practical use or operational character of these approaches. Papers focus on theoretical and conceptual issues; technical issues; and applications. Contributors are mainly geographers and economists. Fischer is at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. Nijkamp is at the Free University, Amsterdam. No index.
