Abstract

The impact of process change is explored through the lens of scientific law. Conceptual links between truths found in the physical sciences and truths found in the managerial sciences are sought in order to understand the complexities of process change. The First Law of Thermodynamics is explores to understand the impact of physics on how managers may view process change. Demand elasticity, capacity management, and operational theory are explored and clarified based on the interface of the laws of physics and the business unit.
