Abstract
The key to a balanced ecology is the use of biodegradable materials. Eco-friendly natural fiber are not sufficient in terms of mechanical characteristics on their own. To solve this, a natural fibre reinforced polymer composite must be created, which will boost the material's mechanical qualities in addition to its biodegradability. Basalt fibre and poly lactic acid (PLA) are selected from among all natural fiber and polymers, respectively. As a result, it has been discovered that the basalt/PLA composite has promising mechanical characteristics, such as tensile and flexural strength. This review work throws a light on various techniques used to develop basalt/PLA composites and its mechanical characterization. Results revel that basalt/PLA based composites have high potential to replace the existing synthetic fiber based polymer composites.
