Abstract
Climate change is caused by increased emissions of CO2. Energy consumption and economic growth is considered as the most influence factors on the increase of CO emissions. The value of forests as an absorber of CO2 2 emissions is generally unknown. An empirical research is required to determine the effect of energy consumption, economic growth, and also new variable such as the decrease of forest area toward the increase of CO emissions 2 in six (6) member countries of ASEAN. This study was a desk research. The data analyses used were the analysis of econometric models and statistical estimation according to data panel regression. The results showed that the econometric model with variable of energy consumption, economic growth by adding variable of forest area has an effect on CO emissions with level of confidence in the model of 97.84% and the remaining 2.16% was 2 influenced by other variables outside the variable used. It indicates that each one per cent increase of the forest area in a country will be able to reduce CO emissions rate of 0.04% (in metric tons per capita)
