Melastomataceae in Reserva biológica de Poço das Antas, Silva Jardim, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: Floristic and taxonomic aspects

Abstract

It carries out a floristic study about Melastomataceae family in Poço das Antas Biological Reserve focusing on the taxonomic diversity and ecological aspects of the group in the different vegetation units that forming the landscape. Eight genus, 34 species and one variety were found: Aciotis (1 sp.), Clidemia (5 spp.), Henriettea (1 sp.), Leandra (2 spp.), Miconia (15 spp. and 1 var.), Ossaea (2 spp.), Rhynchanthera (1 sp.) and Tibouchina (7 spp.). This is the first record of 15 species to the municipality of Silva Jardim and Clidemia dentata to the Southeastern region of Brazil, besides to identify a new species of Clidemia. It also presents an analytical key for the identification of the species, as well as descriptions, illustrations, geographical distribution and comments about the specimens in the environment and some morphological and nomenclatural particularities.
