Abstract

The formulation relies on the statement of the vectorial Ergun equation for the gas flow and on the use of a modified Darcy equation for the liquid stream. These two sets of equations are mutually coupled. The computed results show that the gas stream, introduced through a tuyere, may appreciably modify both the flow pattern of the liquid and the liquid hold-up.
