Abstract

A thorough review of the existing solar PV training manuals was conducted and a gap is identified between the theoretical and practical trainings for the beginners in the solar PV field. During initial steps of solar trainings, beginners often struggle with identification of the system components and their technical specifications. Students generally do not have anything in their hands to collect information during the visit/demonstration of a solar PV system. Therefore in the present work, novel, comprehensive formats have been designed on the basis of the review to aid the beginners in the solar engineering and skill development courses. The developed survey/demonstration based formats are designed to collect information about the location, the site, weather conditions, user needs, components specifications, project cost, maintenance requirements and performance. The formats have been developed for four commonly used solar PV systems- solar PV power plant, solar water pumping system, solar lantern and solar street light.
