Abstract

We report the synthesis and characterization of the first enantiomerically pure C3-symmetric polypyrazole ligand, tris[(4S,7R)-7,8,8-trimethyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-4,7-methano-2-indazolyl] phosphine oxide (OP-(camphpz)3, 2). The new optically active complexes [(η3-2)Cu(CH3CN)]BF4 (3), [(η3-2)Cu(X)] (X = Cl (4), X = O3SCF3 (5)), and [(η2-Zncl2] (6) were prepared. Complex 3 catalyzed the cyclopropanation of styrene with ethyl and 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenyl diazoacetates with ee's of up to 60%. © 1992, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
