Abstract

In this paper we analyze the economic writings of Lenin from the 1890s and 1900s, with emphasis on The Development of Capitalism in Russia. The importance of these writings is that they form the basis of the Leninist approach to the national question. Here it will be stated that, although Lenin manages to refute the populist thesis of the impossibility of capitalism in Russia, he fails to complete an explanation of the particularities of capitalism in that country.
