Abstract

Ionisation cross sections were measured for the Kα and Kß X-rays from the rare earths, excited with 66 MeV protons. Comparison with PWBA calculations showed acceptable agreement. Satellite X-rays of Kα1, and Kα2 X-rays of the element (Z + 1) were observed during the bombardment of the element Z for 63 ≤ Z ≤ 71. The average intensity of the satellites was about 4% of the corresponding Kα1, X-ray of the target. © 1990.
