Abstract

Vegetation structure can have a significant impact on the degree of anisotropy in the reflected radiation field. With the appropriate characterization of these effects, the analysis of multiangular data, such as provided by the Multi-angle Imaging Spectro Radiometer (MISR) instrument on board TERRA, can yield statistical information about the type of surface heterogeneity that exists at the subpixel scale.
