Abstract

Recent studies indicate that brain histamine (HA) might play an important role on neuroendocrine regulation, neuroimmune function, and higher activities of the central nervous system (CNS)[1]. Other HA-mediated central functions include sleep-awakefulness cycle, circadian rhythms, neurovegetative control (i.e., cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, water balance), neurotransmitter interactions, thermoregulation, feeding behavior, and cerebrovascular regulation. HA also seems to be involved in the aging process and in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia [2]. © 1992, Center for Academic Publications Japan. All rights reserved.
