Abstract

This study summarizes some findings of a survey on the alcohol drinking habits of young people in a region of northern Italy. The paper focusses on drinking and eating habits, drinking and socialization processes and the motivations and meaning of drinking alcohol by young people and their peers. The outcome of the study shows a mixture of tradition and innovation: context and substance may often be new, while the motivations and meanings of alcohol consumption are inherited.
