Abstract
Teacher training in gender and sexual diversity is essential to achieve inclusive education. This study focuses on the perception and educational practices of higher education students regarding gender and sexual diversity. A total of 269 students from various universities and education programs participated, with their knowledge assessed using a Likert-type estimation scale with 20 items grouped into three factors: gender identity, sexual orientation, and discrimination. The results indicate a moderate level of knowledge about gender and sexual diversity, with a particular emphasis on concepts related to the LGBTIQ+ community, and difficulties observed with terms such as "Demisexual," "Androcentrism," and "Queer Theory." Statistically significant differences have been found by gender, age, program of study, and ideology. Ultimately, the importance of understanding sex-gender diversity to build an inclusive and ethical school environment is emphasized, as well as the need to provide teacher training to enhance their professional development.
