Abstract

Benzoxazoles, benzthiazoles and benzimidazoles can be rapidly and efficiently synthesized in excellent yields by condensing a variety of carboxylic acids with 2-aminophenol, 2-aminothiophenol and 1,2-phenylenediamines under ambient conditions using the ionic liquid 1-butyl 3-methyl imidazolium tetraflouroborate [(bmim)BF4] at higher temperatures. ©ARKAT-USA, Inc.
