Abstract

WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) plays vital role in the life style of human beings. It is an important public health issue to attain the sustainable development goals. To make WASH sector more effective, data from different sources like Water Point Mapping(WPM), Flow Monitoring and Leak Detection (FMLD), mWater, mWash, etc. should be collected and big data analytical tools like Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark should be implemented to store, manipulate and get results. Big data analytics process the huge amount of unstructured data in parallel and in distributed computing environment as a cluster of computers. After successful implementation of big data analytics in WASH sector, Monitoring and visualization of system, data for equity and sustainability, post implementation monitoring, Open data and accountability and Social Accountability can be executed for the betterment of this sector.
