This article describes the leadership journey of a nursing leader from the United States. Background information on the culture of the United States where the author was raised and educated is provided as is a discussion about how her leadership skills were influenced by American culture. She reflects on the similarities and differences in leadership journeys between the nurse leaders from five Asian countries who participated in the Women’s Leadership Workshop held at Duke University in 20171. The article concludes with suggestions for women in leadership, particularly nurses, across the globe.
