Abstract
The purpose of this article is to analyze educational initiatives from two fortified sites in Latin America - the Fortifications complex in the north of Santa Catarina Island [Brazil] and the Historic District of Colonia del Sacramento [Uruguay]. It was observed how these socio-educational actions, implemented by tourism, impact on their respective local communities by promoting the exercise of citizenship and social inclusion. This is a field and documentary research conducted for a master's thesis defended at the Federal University of Santa Catarin
